Description
The New York Islanders can be very proud of the season they had, but good things comes to an end. Not only that but New York are now in one hell of a cap. They have 8M, but they need to resign Toews, Pulock and Barzal. Barzal alone will command more than that and Pulock and Toews play in their top 4 in defense which was one of the best this season if we look the fact they were 9th in goals allowed.
In order to try to keep the same core group together, they will have to shed some salary on the 3rd/4th line and 6-7th defenseman.
The first trade I would do for Boychuk. I've target Anaheim because they need a righty. Yes Boychuk is not worth 6M I do agree, but I think he could play on the third duo in Anaheim which is better then not playing all since Dobson will likely take Boychuk's place in the lineup. In exchange Anaheim trades Kesler, which NY immediatly put on LTIR, therefore he doesn't count in the capspace. New York should also give at least a 3rd round to the Ducks for clearing Boychuk's cap.
They was also that rumor Parise-Ladd which could happen, since Minnesota is already clearing players Parise might be the next one. For taking Ladd contract, a bottom 6 player they will need to give young players, assets so I think dal Colle and Aho are on the move. Ho-sang is also part of the deal even though he might not even play for Minnesota. I think he'll likely play overseas in Russia.
Finally since they still need to move pieces Hickey is gone and I also send a fan favorite Clutterbuck. he'll be missed in NY but could help a rebuilding team like Detroit.

Ducks decline. Kesler’s cap doesn’t affect us so we’re just taking more cap.

Hickey and Clutterbuck have negative value due to their contracts. If you want to send them to Detroit that’s fine but you’d have to add a sweetener, not us.

Most realistic Isles fan I've seen on here. Realistic AAV for Barzal all these Isles fans think they're getting him back for like 6M. Might have to throw in either an extra third or make some sort of compensation on the third to be better for Anaheim. Might also have to thrown in a fourth or fifth on the Hickey trade. Two real bad contracts and Detroit won't want to lose draft capital to take on two contracts.
