Description
NYI Trade
Why the Wild do it: GMBG makes this move to try to "change the culture" again. Just like the Staal trade, this is another underwhelming return but I could see something similar to this happening.
Why the Islanders do it: Basically upgrade Ladd to Parise at the cost of Bellows. With the retention they would have the same cap hit so they would unfortunately have to create cap space somewhere else.

NSH Trade
Donato cant find a spot in the lineup so GMBG moves him for a pick. Rumor is that Donato is headed to the Preds so I went with them as the team. As much as I want Donato to be a sweetener in a bigger trade I don't see it happening. I do think he could be at least a 20 goal scorer but doesn't look like he will get a shot here.

Future
According to what Guerin has said sounds like he wants to give Rask more opportunity and he is fine with keeping Dumba on the roster. I suspect these two will be given the opportunity to play this season here to try to improve their value and be shipped at the deadline.

9 OA: Lundell or Askarov (if Guerin doesn't believe in KK)

Next Offseason: If Guerin is unable to find that 1C in 2020 he could maybe try to find it in 2021. If RNH makes it FA he could be a target and assuming we have a high draft pick he could try his luck in the draft.

All speculation but I am expecting a long fix not a big blockbuster that fixes everything.

It's tough... part of me says let's just give up on bellows to get a player that can help now, but another part of me says the Parise contract is so long that maybe it's worth taking a chance on Bellows. Really don't know. That's why I'm not paid the big bucks to make that choice.

Regardless, I think it's fair. I believe this is the trade that almost happened at the deadline, down to the exact dollar retention.

I mean I would do that as NYI. Other deals would need to be made, but I would do that.

Kinda was hard to find but supposedly on a podcast Donato himself said he was going to the Preds. Rumors are rumors though so believe it if you want.

Donato to the Preds doesn't make much sense to me. He's a worse Fiala and we all know how well Fiala did in NSH.

Wild are paying almost $27m ($7.5m x 3 with Ladd, and $2m x 2 retained after that) in dead cap to with the NYI trade. Bellows isn't near enough for all that.

Just keep Parise for 3 more years and you're better off. The last 3 years of his deal he might get "back problems" when his take home pay is only $4m total and go LTIR.
