Description
I target Ehlers but it could be another RW. But I'm willing to part ways with Domi + a depth D + a 1st to get that scoring RW.

As for Shattenkirk, I figure that a 3-year deal could get him on the cheap side of things. Maybe it's not enough? I still think Habs need an offensive RD on that 3rd pairing...

As for the 4th line, Weal could be moved for a pick if Habs can find a more physical, cheaper option in the UFA pool. A la Thompson, maybe?

I like Ejhlers as well he can play RW now while we need it and when Caufield and Ylonen come he can switch to the left where he belongs and replace Tatar. Not sure if that package will do it but he’s a guy Bergevin should target

Winnipeg need both youth AND depth. This package of Domi + Poehling + depth D + 1st is exactly what they need. They could use Domi either at C or on the wing. Habs can afford to trade the 1st because of all the picks they have after that. And getting a 2nd rounder for next year is just a way of spreading out the assets in time. Plus it's not like Ehlers is 38 or something... Fits well with the core Habs already have...

Domi and Ehlers have almost identical career stats. Domi also plays a more important position.

Why does MTL have to add Poehling, Mete (or Kulak or Juulsen), and 16th overall for a 2nd round pick to make this trade happen?

That's just a ridiculous overpay, just resign Domi if that's the asking price.

I think Ehlers is a more complete player and un underrated offensive threat. I would take him over Domi every day of the week!

That being said, maybe my offer looks like an overpayment. And maybe not. Just saying I'm willing to give all those assets to get Ehlers. Maybe Poehling is not necessery, maybe he is. At this point, I don't care!
