Montour

Not bad. I like both of these trades. I don't see the Namestnikov signing being a fit though- but the trades have fair value

I really don’t think Montour is worth much more than a 3rd,
nor more money than his 3.525mil QO (I actually think he’s worth less than that tbh). I would rather resign Brodie honestly, he’ll probably be cheaper than that anyway. I don’t mind the Monahan trade though, big Bjorkstrand fan.

We also have Mackey, so we don’t need Hutton, and I’m fine with Rieder/Gawdin on the 4th line with Quine/Robinson as extras so we don’t need Namestnikov/Nordstrom. With those savings, and if we trade Ryan, we might be able to make a run at a decent UFA.

i remember having a stupid argument with a guy saying because buffalo paid a 1st for montour he was worth a 1st when I said the reality is if toronto or any team was offering for him, Johnsson or a 3rd would be the return as both were not good this year. Montours stats defensively and even offensively were bad lowering his value and making it look like a "we gave a 1st for this guy facepalm" moment

Yeah I honestly didn’t think it was a fantastic trade at the time, and it hasn’t exactly aged well. His high QO makes him tough to move. If he was signed for like 3x2.5 he’d be worth a 2nd maybe but I can’t see teams giving him more than 1 year at his QO, which he has every right to take, making him worth a 3rd at best

You dont think a 2nd pairing puck moving dman making 3.5 can land a 2nd? Thats a new take
