Pure value perspective I say TML adds a bit in Fehr and JVR deals. From a needs and cap perspective I think it makes the PIT deal a little more likely but the MN deal less likely.

Spurgeon is probably the best choice of Wild d-men for Tor. Excellent puck mover and drives possession (he's good defensively too). Tor adds something (no clue what).

Fehr really adds nothing for the Leafs except more money and a year on the contract.. Spurgeon: Hasn't one of the criticisms of the Leafs defence is too small? Spurgeon makes Carrick looks like the Hulk. Maybe he isn't as good but Brodin might be the guy Leafs might like. Still I wouldn't trade JVR this season. Not having him makes the LW really weak. Leivo and Leipsic aren't NHLers for a reason.

The way the season has started for the Leafs, instead of Fehr, maybe the Leafs should sign Fuhr....Grant Fuhr.

Fehr, I thought was maybe a centerman who could offer a more defensive side to the fourth line. Spurgeon is a good defenseman and there's really not a whole lot of options for someone who can play in the top two and is right handed and young.

Also I completely agree, too early to deal JVR, BUT he's probably the first to go in a defenseman trade so we better figure out what we have in Leivo and Leipsic REAL SOON. They both have potential but we need to figure out if its top six or top nine

LeafsFan Matthews, Bozak, Kadri seem to set as the top three centres.....If we need a fourth centre, besides Holland, there is Laich. Top 2 RHD. I never get would a top 2 guy is, but Zaitsev with a little NHL adjustment could very well be one. He and Orlov were the best Russian pairing in the World Cup. I know Polak, Holland and Hunwick aren't stars but the to trade JVR and the only real guy coming back is Spurgeon isn't good for the Leafs this year. Four regulars for one regular, just not good for the Leafs as this time.
Regarding Leipsic and Leivo. Right now they seem stuck behind Hyman (who unexpectedly is playing LW, JVR, Komarov and Martin. On the depth chart you almost think Johnson, Soshnikov, Tishanov and Lindberg as guys who are in long term Leaf plans (as least possibilities) instead of Leivo and Leipsic.
