Is this perfect? No. Does it get the Sharks much needed picks and a player who would be cheap as chips to buy out? Yes.

If Tampa's taking back an NHL contract over 1 mil they aren't retaining also.

No freaking way Ty;er Johnson waives for San Jose, He's already losing 26 games of salary plus the high California taxes would eat him alive.

Well, he's probably gonna have to waive for somewhere, might as well go somewhere else the weather is nice! Frankly, there's not all that many teams that could theoretically afford him at this point and Tampa's going to have to figure something out.

Probably not, but San Jose could probably still make this work. There's been discussion about what to do wrt extra players in case of injury, and if that's a thing that happens then it wouldn't be an issue. Regardless, that move would save them 3 million in cap space and that's nothing to sneeze at, especially not in their situation.

They wouldn't be able to sign Cirelli or Cernak in this situation though, but you're right and btw those conditions are wild because Johnson's playing all the games unless he gets injured. He just played top 6 on a championship team. Just because he is overpayed doesn't mean he's bad
