Valimaki is exempt he doesn't need to be protected. I expect Calgary will bribe Seattle to take Simon instead of Dube/Bennett (whichever is left unprotected). It's very likely Lucic will waive his NMC since Treliving honored it when he was traded to Calgary

But aren't they gonna take Rittich if they don't take Dube or Bennett?

Why would they take Rittich if he's not under contract less than a week later? If Calgary pays them not to take Bennett/Dube (whoever is left open) they should take Kylington or Simon

If I’m Seattle I try to convince Calgary to overspend for Seattle to take lucic 10.5 million 2 year deal, possibly first c of Seattle, not sure what that would be worth to Calgary is the only question.

Ngl, them somehow taking Kylington is best case scenario. He’s our 4th best LD rn but our LD pipeline is bursting with talent. Mackey, Kuznetsov, and Poirier are all great prospects, not to mention Valimaki and Hanifin are young too so he’s completely replaceable, especially next summer. What do you think it’ll cost to get them to take him though (assuming Bennett is the one left unprotected and thus the value we have to ultimately equal with the Kylington+ package)? A 3rd or 4th? Pay Simon to take Kylington?
