Description
This deal assumes a lack of rebound seasons for all five guys by March. If rebound seasons occur, both teams keep their players or deal them for draft picks to other clubs. If not, however, Canes get Ghost and the other Van Riemsdyk in a contract swap. Flyers get medium-term cap relief (Ghost and JVR expire in 3 seasons while Dzingel and Nino expire next season and in 2 seasons, respectively) while Carolina gets a penny stock for the extra salary in 2 years.

Interesting but i feel like Philly and Carolina rejects as Philly gives up the better players and Carolina would probably lose one of them to Seattle

This deal assumes lack of rebound years. All of these guys, with the exception of maybe JVR due to the 7M hit, are tradeable for draft picks if they play up to their actual talent level.

Meh, I don't think the flyers do it, they don't lack forwards and acquiring 2 who probably collectively (in 3rd/4th line minutes) the same as JVR. Nino and dzingel are on shorter contracts, but Flyers with a healthy Patrick and Lindblom don't even have space for Frost, JVR, Patrick or Farabee in their top 6, so not sure where you would play them. Flyers have Laughton, Patrick, Raffl, JVR, Farabee, NAK and Frost in their bottom 6, I'm not sure dzingel or nino are a better fit than any of them or play the type of game Flyers need.

Gardiner for Ghost would work, and both are coming off subpar yrs (gardiner had 30 pts, 24 pts the last 2 years) and Ghost thru injuries even worse, but not sure gardiner is what flyers lack either.

Salaries are almost even, but again, none of those players are what flyers lack and cap wise, the flyers are fine and can move Ghost/JVR later (in fact only sanheim and hart are signable UFA/RFAs next year and they will have cap for it).

Dzingel is a pending UFA after this year. That has value on its own even if he doesn't rebound to his actual level. My view, though, is that both teams only do it if their respective guys don't rebound.

Yeah, I agree, but that wont happen until later (the bounce back), which only worsens the CAR offer and really the deal is quantity. JVR had 41 pts in 59 games in regular season, primarily from 3rd line minutes, far and above what dzingel or nino had, and the flyers don't need more bodies, they already have too many bodies at forward and defense.

As I said, flyers have enough cap this year and if they move ghost or JVR it'll be for cap space to upgrade, I don't see any of those guys on offer an upgrade.
