I disagree.

Matheson is by alot of metric actually a decent D-man with top-4 potential in the right system. He has supposedly been very misused and a horrible fit in Florida's dumpster fire or a franchise. he is fast, only 26, has a good shot and can move the puck.

Hornqvist is old, and slow, and although a nice net front guy, he's too expensive for a depth role and he's been very injury prone.

I disagree too. Hornqvist has been regressing. And we needed to get younger and faster. And Matheson does both. Although he was a turnover machine last year, he’s still fast and a good offensive D. We’ll see this year when he’s playing in a good defensive system, that doesn’t rely on their D to carry the puck. And I’m sure that was the best deal JR got. I doubt teams were knocking the door down to get a 34 year old forward, making 5.3M for 3 more years.

There is still something missing with this team.
