Description
Can you guess why the kings have these players? They got them because of a trade which happened in 1988, the Gretzky trade.

So anyways, they got Gretzky, and they also got Marty Mcsorley. And more or less, LA traded him , then they got him back (same trade pretty much) and traded him again, with Jari Kurri for a package that included Matthias Norstrom. Norstrom was then dealt for a package including a 2008 first (28th overall), which was then traded for other pick which were also traded and somehow they got a 2009 3rd, which traded eventually for a second in 2015 (Erik Cernak), which was traded Ben Bishop and a 5th, and then Bishop was dealt for a 4th (both in 2015). The 5th turned into Rysma, and the 4th turned into Phillips. Now, maybe it's just me, but it blows my mind how a trade 32 years ago is still going. There is a lot more the the Greztky trade then this. I recommend you what this https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/nhl-trade-tree-gretzky-trade-still-evolving-today/, the steve dangle gretzky trade tree. It's very interesting. Merry Christmas.

Hopefully Phillips is traded sometime soon (idk if Rymsha is gonna turn into anything), this glorious trade tree must continue indefinitely.

I hope so too. I would be unfortunate to see this trade go out. By the way, I just assumed that this was the longest active trade tree. Do you know of a longer one?

No clue, trades from the 80s aren’t exactly my forte. But who knows, perhaps there’s one out there....
