My new year's resolution: use capfriendly less. But today I decided to do a bit because I love it.

Ohhh, these lines are so much fun. I don't think they will be kept, but I am happy the leafs are trying something new. These lines could work really well.

That top line, what is not to like about that top line. Not something I expected, but it's great. Matthews is the obvious option for line one, and Marner makes more sense than Nylander because he's more of a passer (despite what he tries to say), and Thornton adds some veteran presence to the top line. He also adds some passing and grit. I don't think this stays, halfway through the season Robertson might be here instead, but a great start.

Ok, this one just baffles me. This is my least favourite line here. Tavares and Nylander, sure, but why have Vesey there? He's not exactly an enforcer, and he's just not a 2nd line caliber player (sure, you could say the same for Thornton on line 1, but that dfferent because Thornton brings other qualties to that line). Vesey and Hyman should be switched.
This 3rd line is a beauty. It's a wonderful shutdown line. Hyman on the 3rd line I don't like, but the combo of Kerfoot and Mikyhev I think is good. They are both good defensive players, but they can both score too. Switching Hyman for Vesey, a must do, will make this line around average as opposed to avobe average, but it will still be a good line.
This line, well, it's a 4th line. But it's a good 4th line. It's got Veteran presense and grit. That's what you want as a 4th line. It's as good a 4th line as you get

Ok, I am very relieved. I was worried with the chaos on the forward lines, the d pairing might be weird as well. They are not. They are exactly as I thought.

Rielly Brodie, this should be an actual good pairing, something the leafs have for a long time. Rielly's offensive play should mesh well with Brodie's defense.
Muzzin Holl is a great shut down pairing. Muzzin is their best defensive defense man. Holl has had good chemistry with him.
This pairing is great. It's a pyshical pairing. This pairing is going to be what the leafs lacked last year. Dermott is not really pyshical, but he is fairly pyshical. Bogosian is only a leaf so he can beat people up. I love this pairing.
