Torts berating and humiliating Dubois on the bench (August 2020 against the Leafs), and airing dirty laundry in the media about the Dubois situation.
Jarmo in lowballing Dubois and finally giving him a $5m x 2 deal (the home grown drafted #1C that the team waited 15 years to get, and hadn’t missed a stinking game in his 3 years in the team), while bringing in Domi on a $5.3m x 2 deal. Dubois had every reason to want out.
Now to Laine...he will probably be just as unhappy with Torts’ style. Jarmo will probably give the same ole schtick about being a small market team that can’t afford such a large contract, and offer Laine a $8m x 8 deal (even though he was rumored to have offered Panarin a $12m x 8 deal before he bolted). I see Roslovic as the silver lining in this situation. The Finnish bond will not be enough to keep Laine happy.
And Torts’ time in Columbus hopefully is on a short countdown.
Jarmo and his ego came across in the presser like he was the savior in this whole situation, when he definitely was part of the problem.
