Description
Not sure there has been a better reason to bring up more youth than after last night. Kings lose two right-shot defensemen and AA to COVID protocol. Additionally, Lizotte needs to sit out a few, his wheels have fallen off and he needs a hard reset. I think you play Maata on his offside with Clague, bring up Bjornfot and give him the opportunity to move up the line and fight Anderson to pair with Doughty. I also think there is an opportunity to bring up Durzi or Spence for the bottom pairing, Durzi has played well with Bjornfot and Spence might deserve a cup of coffee.

The upcoming games will be an uphill battle and a good opportunity to see JAD (in for Lizotte) and ****emo (in for Wagner until Frk is ready) as well. I think Kings fans need to not care about winning or losing the next few but seeing how good our young guys can be.

Definitely not scratching MacDermid after the game he had last night.

Have you heard an update on Roy and Walker? I figured Walker would come back with a mask since the game isn't till Tuesday.

I had him in for Alt, but I'm worried about MacD's full game going forward and what the coach thinks of him. Your right he had a fine game, but with two defensemen down he played 12 minutes was really telling.

He had a lot more than a "fine game"

He improved his skating, he's a little faster this season, he's only gotten caught flat footed once or twice(so has Doughty), he's creating more chances offensively and joining the rushes at the right time, and he's incredible on the PK. He cleared the puck 4 times last night maybe 5 on the PK. Every time he has the puck he makes not just a good decision, but the right decision. He's great at breaking up plays and learned to pick his times right when hitting.

Stevens and Willie never saw what they had in MacDermid. McLellan does. Under Todd, MacDermid has seen more games, ice time, and PK time than he ever has before. That should show you what the coach is thinking.

MacDermid is starting to see more time little by little because he has improved A LOT. I suspect his ice time will start trending up to the 14-15 mark at some point this season.

I don't understand why you Kings fans don't give him credit. We're all watching the same games, right? Or are we not?

I think it's just my own bias and hopefully you are right. It was a painful game to watch but I was watching last night. He adds physicality which might be necessary after last night, it's just difficult to see him as more than a 7th man. I'll try to give him a harder look, he deserves that.

I agree, with how he's been used and treated by the former coaching staffs makes it only harder to see him being more than a 7th dman, especially when we are good. However, I really urge you to watch him more closely. After last night, I have optimism he could be a long term 3LD option even when we are contending. I know that sounds crazy, but seriously watch him closely. Last night was a perfect example of how much he has improved and how important he is. He has secured my trust on the PK, I've never seen a dman clear the puck so many times in 1 shift so easily.

I know I'm biased, he is one of my favorite defensemen, but that's because of how he plays the game. If you watch his interviews and him break plays down with Fox, I have no doubt he'll become a great coach one day.
