Description

I’m guessing that Danault is underwhelmed by his offers on UFA day and accepts a 1 year deal to hopefully get paid next year.
I’d try and extend Romanov first, then Suzuki, then KK. It’s nothing person re: KK, but he probably waits until the rest of the RFAs with no arb rights also sign. My guess is all the numbers are going to be surprisingly close to the qualifying offers on 1 year deals, and lower than usual on 2 year bridge deals. The cap space across the league just isn’t going to be there.

nah, I think MB will offer him a 5Mx5y or 5Mx 6y deal. Otherwise, it would feel like an insult to Danault. He weakened his position this season, but he is still needed in MTL... KK and Suzy are not ready for the defensive missions.

Knowing MB pattern, he might take a risk on KK and offer him a 4 or 5 year deal around 4M - 3.5M like he did with Gallagher, Pacioretty and others. It's his trademark. It gives us a lot of good years at a very cheap price in the future.

We already have that center with good defensive skills by the name of Jake Evans. No way Danault is needed at the price he thinks he is worthed. He has probably the weakiest shot in the league and has not scored a goal in more than one year even in an empty net !!!!
