Except that trade is NOT “very likely”
It’s not even likely tbh

Very little high end value going back to the Sabres
Secondary pieces aren’t gonna cut it

No interest in Strome
Georgiev is a low end starter- AT BEST
Kakko doesn’t even look like the high end prospect he was drafted as

This proposal gets easily beat
There’s no chance this does it

Kakko has been a great defensive forward, but I’m not trading Jack for a player that hasn’t produced a lot offensively. Plus another LD prospect wouldn’t excite the sabres either.

Kakko wasn’t drafted to be JUST a great “defensive” forward though
I don’t think NyR could put together a competitive package without Lafreniere- and since he hasn’t done a ton offensively, idk that even adding him would entice the Sabres enough

With the high end Center prospects LA has,
I think they could put together the best package

On paper, LA does have the ability to put the most intriguing package together- because they do have the C prospects to dangle (assuming Byfield or Turcotte would be among the return) and the best teams do seem to be built from the center position out....which is why quality C's are usually either drafted or paid very heavily for.

But to throw water on Kakko or LaF...the argument there is just lunacy...both players are 19 years old playing in the NHL. Neither's stat sheet overwhelms right now...but LaF for sure looks like he belongs in this league (unlike Kakko who looked lost his 1st year) and Kakko has taken a huge stride from his difficult 1st year....AGAIN: these guys are 19 with a LONG runway ahead of them.
