Description
LTIR representing players not coming back to Edmonton next season. The Oilers probably look to have handshake deals in place for Kulikov and Larsson prior to the expansion draft.

7-3-1 Protection

F: McDavid, Draisaitl, RNH, Puljujarvi, Yamamoto, Crouse, Archibald
D: Nurse, Klefbom, Bear
G: Hill

Instead of losing Hill for nothing, the Coyotes can add a cost-controlled quality defender and upgrade their draft capital. It frees up a small amount of money for the Arizona ownership as well, which might make a big contract for Garland easier to handle. Edmonton gets a Maroon-esque winger to run with McDavid in order to make some space and a potential long-term goaltender without sacrificing the quantity of draft picks in their possession.

Thoughts?

Lineup as set below is effectively what I'd run next season, but possibly with an upgrade to Benson at #3LW.

I'm a fan!
This does work for both teams and hill could be the right fit in EDM, and Jones likewise in ARZ.

If anything I'd say a decrease from the first round is a bit much, perhaps just sending a 2nd would be more feasible to the Oilers.

As in send the 2022 2nd? Or just Arizona sending their 2nd?

I like this a lot. ARI gets a good young defenseman and moves into the 1st round. The question is whether EDM wants to move down the draft.

I really have no idea where Holland's at with the pick: he's expressed a willingness to move the pick for assets with term, so I think in this case he manages that while keeping a relatively high pick in what's otherwise going to be a crapshoot beyond the first round.
