Description
Last night's lineup debacle showed how badly this team needs a somewhat flexible cap scenario. Especially when pretty much the entire top 6 plus the top defenseman (who make up nearly half of all our cap space and are all older) are the ones out. But what makes this even harder is that Ovechkin wants $12mil. He's worth every penny to this franchise though.

Not necessarily saying this makes the team better. But, it clears cap to sign Ovechkin and allows our prospects to FINALLY have some playing time. Even if they get scratched and have to rotate it, I think it's important they start to be a part of this team for real.

I know Wennberg and Montour aren't inherently great players who can replace the guys who left, but they'd be solid on short, movable contracts to get the job done and fill in or can be sat for the younger guys

Caps don't go anywhere with Weenberg as their 2C. Only move Kuzy if you can't find a legit top 6C to replace him. I also think Ovi ends up taking around $10M but we'll see.

Basically give a Kuzy away then sign Montour and Wennberg.

You could just trade Jensen since TVR looks great and teams would be willing to take Jensen since he has a low cap and term. Alexeyev and Fehevary are better than Montour this is like signing Chara 2.0 instead of playing guys in our system that are better.

You could trade Kuzy but you should get players of value back. Like I would have for gone for Foudy + 1st or Kotkaniemi+ a 1st. Foudy and Mcmichael are both London boys I would like to see how they do together. Then sign Danault at 5-5.5m

Yeah I saw your post recently and I can say you did a much better job than me lol. I was definitely trying to temper my expectations a bit
