That’s a bad idea from a sabres perspective. You don’t rebuild around Kuznetsov.

True. But you can either play him for a year to set up Skinner for 30 goals and trade both, or flip Kuznetsov immediately for someone you do rebuild around.

eta: mostly, I think you rebuild from the net out, and Samsonov could be a big part of that in a couple years. A bigger question is Buffalo's draft strategy this year. Do they go for Power and try to ice two #1LHD? Or trade down and get a #1C?

I’m more interested in that Ovie contract. Could they actually do that or would it be considered circumvention? It would be huge to get that type of discount for him.
