Description
This is awful. But it solves expansion and cap space for next year. Would they still make the playoffs?

If Ovechkin insists on a 12.5M cap hit, I don't think the team goes over two years. After that, re-evaluate cap hit on a series of one-year deals for as long as it takes to break the goals record.

And why would Seattle want some overpayed 3rd liner?

You're funny. Guy's got as many 70 point seasons as Bergeron in half the time. If Kuznetsov's not a top six center, the Bruins don't have one. Might be time to rebuild.

I think he's still bitter from last nights game tears of joy

good game by WSH. That game was too close on the score sheet for it to get wild though. This series is gonna explode. Don't think the caps putting up to BOS abusing OV in the corner.

FWIW, Kuznetsov is worth more than three high 2nd round draft picks, but the other part of the return above might be Vanecek, Dillon, or Schultz, any of whom is worth about a 30th-35th overall pick this offseason, so I'm trading Kuznetsov for four high 2nd round picks. That's not the awful part. The awful part is that there's still no cap space to sign an average middle six center to hold his spot for a year until McMichael is ready. And yes, they could make another deal to clear a little space, but mostly this is a post about why neither Ovechkin nor the Caps should look for a short-term, top cap-hit deal, if the goal is to break Gretzky's record and win another Cup.
