Description
Might be some things here that will / highly possible to happen. Probably not all of these take place, but Red Wings are rebuilding and Yzerman (based on Tampa & Detroit) seems to like to build through the draft.

Please remember any trades also have intrinsic value. For instance the Colorado trade might be weighted a little toward Detroit, but the value to Colorado is being able to resign Landeskog, Makar, etc. So when rating trades, please understand the full aspects of why. Instead of "NO" atleast reply by why or what would level it out.

I think the wings have alot going for them... Flat Cap, other teams with Cap Issues, lots of contracts expiring and lots of room to take on bad contracts. Likely 1 more year before they make the playoffs, but might make a little noise at the bottom of the league this year.

Teams who paid high prices (picks) to win now and have too many high dollar contracts are great to deal with because Detroit can offer later round picks in exchange for bad contracts and young talent. Drafting in the 5th or 6th round is not as much as a guarantee when you have been able to see a guy develop in the minors or other leagues for a year or two.

Bernier comes back, Stall Comes back. Bernier likes Detroit, but he knows he is a "filler" role until a goalie can be ready. Another good year and he has the likely-hood of being traded to a team ready to compete. Stall is back with the understanding he is helping the youth side grow their game. his leadership is great and he provides alot of intangibles to the team.

Buy out Loui Eriksson, opens up a couple million dollars if needed to take on a contract at the trade deadline.

Yzerman is looking at the core being 23-26 right now, so anything coming from Free Agency will just be older guys filling roles OR guys who can bring leadership into the locker room and in return would get the opportunity to "select" a team at the deadline. Guys available are Greiss, Bernier, Stall, Nichuskin, Hronek, Glendening and Fabbri to playoff teams. values are likely 1st for Fabbri, maybe a 2nd for Hronek if he plays well.. after that just any pick will do.

3 first rounders:
6th overall - William Eklund
21st Overall - Sebastian Cossa (from Minnesota)
23rd Overall - Brennan Othmann (from Washington)

  1. Namestnikov, Vladislav
Additional Details:
Lost to Expansion
2.
DET
  1. Eriksson, Loui
  2. 2022 1st round pick (VAN)
Additional Details:
No way Vancouver gives up a 9th overall pick in this draft, but the need to move the contract is Important so I think this would make some sense for both sides. Vancouver really needs to start winning now before they can no longer afford this team
VAN
  1. Cholowski, Dennis [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
Vancouver could use another younger (cheap) defenseman and Wings take a chance. If Vancouver doesn't make the playoffs, they get another lottery ball.
3.
DET
  1. Alnefelt, Hugo
  2. Johnson, Tyler
Additional Details:
Tampa Bay cant afford to send a pick out to take Johnsons contract. Yzerman drafted Alnefelt so he is confident in his play and development. Tampa doesnt want to lose Johnson for nothing and Vas is still the future for a long time so Alnefelt isn't a kings ransom.
TBL
  1. Svechnikov, Evgeny [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
Svech gets a fresh start and Tampa gets a guy who can get in the lineup every night, likely at $1M for 2-3 years to save CAP space
4.
DET
  1. Donskoi, Joonas
  2. Nichushkin, Valeri
  3. Timmins, Conor [RFA Rights]
  4. 2022 1st round pick (COL)
Additional Details:
Colorado Has a major issue. Need to sign, Landeskog ($8M if he takes discount), Saad ($3.5M discounted), Grubauer ($5M Discounted), Makar ($4M-3 year bridge), Jost ($2M). cant move Kadri (crap) and cant move Johnson (money, injury and depth in D).
COL
  1. Grewe, Albin [Reserve List]
  2. Smith, Givani [RFA Rights]
  3. 2021 4th round pick (TBL)
  4. 2022 5th round pick (DET)
Additional Details:
TImmins is odd man out in Colorado for Defense. So Colorado is ok moving on from him to free up some space to keep the core.

Johnson, Makar, Toews, Girard, Byrum, Graves top 6 with Mcdonald and Renouf able to eat small minutes in case of injury.

No chance its a lottery ball, but likely a LATE 1st rounder coming back to free up the space.
5.
DET
  1. Brodin, Jonas
  2. 2021 1st round pick (MIN)
Additional Details:
Minnesota needs some cap space and cant protect all of their defensemen. In order to not lose a good defenseman to Seattle for nothing, they accept Detroit's Offer

(Fiala $5M?), Kaprizov ($6M), Erikson Ek ($4.5M)... Likely need to retain Johansson, Bonino or Bjugstad ($2.5M on one of them)...
MIN
  1. 2021 2nd round pick (EDM)
Additional Details:
RFA Rights to Gustav Lindstrom (not showing up but is a RFA)

Detroit Knows all of Minnesota's top players last season are due contracts Yzerman uses this to get a good player and move up in the draft.

Colorado trades the 3 best players AND a 1st rd pick. Seattle takes Graves or Donskoi. Frees up money for Saad and Timmons is needed. Using your numbers, Colorado would be ~ 3 mil under the cap with 21 players signed and Johnson's future, LTIR or buyout, in doubt. ..
