Description
I figure this gives us more of what the team needs. A stop gap center who can score in hertl and a center with speed for fiala and boldy. This keeps the development of rossi in mind, he gets a year to get into shape and up to speed, he gets his nhl experience without being pushed into a top 6 role or anything and potentially look into buying out parise after the season.

Seattle protection would be 7-3-1 with the hertl deal likely happening after expansion draft. Also this leaves cap space for the following offseasons new deals for sturm and kahkonnen. Hertl might be an option depending on dollars and how he meshes.

I originally had the hertl deal as greenway and a 2nd, b it upped it to a 1st and added rask. The value might be a bit off with the retention, but they are rebuilding and i assume both a young top 6 wing and a 1st would suit their long term needs better. With rask and retention it eats up another 2m or so in cap space. Which is why I upped from a 2nd to a 1st.

Thoughts?

I’m very concerned with how that back end looks. If we do end up moving Dumba, we will need to sign a top 4 guy. I wonder what McCabe would run?

I'd sign Mermis and Mennell over Hunt. But the back end isn't bad, we've just been spoiled by two top two pairs for years.

How much has Hertl played center this year?

Also, OP, remember that you can move Hunter to the AHL and get another 800k. I don't know why the site keeps putting him in the 2022 roster.

That's too much to give up for Hertl as a rental. He'd be a guy I'd target at the TDL rather than before the season.

Dvorak is the center I'd want from AZ. I don't think Schmaltz is worth his contract and would pass on that trade.

Is there some reason why you have three goalies on the roster? With that hit and the cap space, you could have a seventh defenseman. Or should we just accept this as a work in progress, TBD?

It depends if Soucy is gone too. If it's just Dumba gone I'd be fine with a Brodin/Soucy and Cole?/Addison, or Brodin/Addison and Soucy/Menell pairs.
