        Calgary will not give away a first round pick for a bad contract. Howard would have to come with another GOOD player or retain half the salary. Detroit might only get a second or third for Howard at full price.

        Vanek should be traded at the TDL. Not resigned. If anything, trade him at the TDL then resign him in the offseason for another 1 yr deal. It seems he needs to be motivated to be productive.
