Description
Only thought here is that Toronto has cap space ni the years coming and taking Jori would help the value of Shattenkirk. I don't even know if Shattenkirk would get Kadri, just messing around to be honest. Thoughts?

This trade would depend as to how Toronto values Lehtera. Kadri should be there number 2 center in the long run, so unless they feel that they can find a guy to replace him, then they won't take it. As much as they need a guy like Shattenkirk, he most likely won't commit to them long term, so that's why I think Toronto says no

I actually think attaching Jori to any Shattenkirk deal would lessen the return than Shattenkirk alone. He's just not getting it done offensively and that cap hit is pretty ugly.

Leafs don't need a cap dump like Lehtera, and rental Shattenkirk for long term centre Kadri isn't in the Leafs plans.

Krakowitz: You mentioned Kadri as # 2 centre. Just a clarification as I see it for the Leafs and their centres. Matthews sees the most ice time but centres two rookies. Bozak centres high scoring rookie Marner and veteran JVR. Kadri right now centre rookie Nylander and plugger Komarov. Kadri has been seeing a lot of PP time this year which has helped his point production. At least for this year so far, the Leafs have had a real balanced three lines. How they line as 1,2,3....not really sure. In an ideal world, Nylander will become an offensive centre next year as Bozak is moved out his UFA summer of 2018. I don't really like "ranking" positions, but long term Kadri looks like a "three".

Shattenkirk may not be a rental for Toronto... if he signs long term with a canadian team i think it would be Toronto.
