Yeeeee, Eriksson is not going to cost a high value prospect. You’ll get picks sure but I doubt they sell dipetro for this.

If McD was just a couple years younger or that contract a couple years shorter id be all in favor of it.

Agreed. I just think the Red Wings could greatly benefit from his leadership on the blueline, he will definitely fall off and will ultimately end up on LTIR in a few seasons so the cap isn't a huge concern for me right now.

I guess it depends on how you define “high value” prospect. Eriksson would cost more than Staal or at least comparable.

DiPietro is an A minus level G prospect at best. Eriksson is buyout-proof, and there are very few teams that can afford to take the full $6M hit with no cap going back the other way. It's DiPietro + a low-level pick upgrade or a first round pick in my opinion.
