Team is worse than last year. Doubt canes have any interest in guys like Gagner, ennis, demers. Those bottom two pairs are a problem too.

Well it’s obviously gonna be worse when you lose a top 5 defenceman.

Yeah my point is they’re gonna use the savings from not signing him to address the gaps on the team. Not make fringe only changes as they’re getting into the prime of their cup window.

Who else is out there? Not many great Defencemen in free agency. And I would stay away from Seth Jones.

Guys like Savard, Oleksiak, Barrie, Larsson, Hjalrmasson, etc. - not that I like all of them and some guys don’t match the analytical front office mindset but I’d rather get a couple of these guys on short term deals to get more depth in the bottom four or potentially target a trade on a D with term who fits the mold. Agree with you on staying away from Jones. Not worth what it’s cost for a one year rental, and his numbers are pointing at a steady decline at that which I’m sure canes front office sees as a red flag.
