Description
Everyone on here creating Leafs teams maxing out the budget for future years and yet the following players are due to get raises next offseason, based on this years performances and continued expected development from the young Ds:
- Reilly (If still on the team, +1.5 million)
- Campbell (+3-4 million)
- Sandin (+1-2 million)
- Liljegren (+ 0.5 million)
- Dermott (If still on the team, + 1 million)

The Leafs will realistically need somewhere between 5-9 million in space for 2022-23. Dubas can't afford to bring in guys like Hamilton, Coleman, Oleksiak, and depending on the market and their intentions, Hyman and Freddie, as they will all command the usual FA period inflated multi-year deals. The only way I see things happening this summer is to lure a big fish on a 1 year deal ( a la Taylor Hall with BUF) or trade one of the core 4/Reilly. Unless they hold on to Reilly and let him walk next summer for nothing, as per usual. I think what Reilly brings to the table is can be negated by Sandin and his further development.

I think Kerfoot is the guy taken by SEA if not traded for an asset prior to ED, but in this case I have the Leafs picking up a pick (could be any team) and SEA taking Dermott, leaving room for Sandin to make the jump full time. If Reilly gets shipped for a decent return, we keep Dermott and Kerfoot gets taken.

Semyonov gets the same treatment as Euro FAs from the past few seasons. Gets a chance to prove himself at start the year on the Leafs and if he doesnt make it, someone like Brooks/Anderson is called up.

Mikheyev is not going anywhere this summer because he is one of Semyonov's best friends, they're from the same town and grew up together.

They are gonna need to be more creative than this if they wanna win a cup we need a whole new 3rd line and I’d much rather have Hyman than Schwartz

Not really

Sandin will probs get a Pealch deal 1.6x4yrs
Campbell a Jarry deal 3.5 x 4yrs
Liligren if not traded his QA 863,333
Rielly 6.5millx8yrs

So how do they fit everyone

Well for starters Foligno will be on a 1 year deal and not 2. So that 2mill comes off the books

That 2mill than divided amongst Sandin and Liligrens extensions and a bit of campbells

Mikheyevs money also is added to Campbells extension

to fill Roster spots cheap guys like Joey Anderson, Alex Steeves, and other prospects make the jump

Riellys extension will come from Phil kessels retention coming off the books.

I did a 2 year plan with the team and they honestly can fit everyone pretty comfortably as when you consider prospects could make it to the NHL it changes things.

Oh I agree. Lets not forget who’s running the Leafs. This is far from my dream scenario. This is from Dubie and the failed Shanaplan

Forgot about the Kessel $! I agree with most of what you’re saying, and hope that can happen but if Campbell has another big year and carries a bigger load, and Leafs banking on paying him Jarry $, he gone. I think you are predicting best case scenario before the season starts, not knowing what happens, I dont think the Leafs risk handicapping their cap for next year by predicting low salaries like that. And reallocating Mikheyev’s $ will only be whatever difference between his current $ and the next ELC call up, so maybe 700-800k.. not enough for Soupys raise either way. Overall, though I’m hoping you’re right on those points.

Schwartz has more playoff points than your whole team.
