Thoughts behind the trades

Edmonton: Yes Keith has some miles on him but he's a solid 3 or 4 and a good mentor for Bouchard or Bromberg. Strome has fallen out of favor with Colliton and needs a change of scenery. Neal and Turris are done, that's why I added Puljujarvi. Hawks get something serviceable.

Tampa: As the Hawks know, you can't keep everybody after a successful run. With Tampa being $5MM over the cap, having Sergachev as a third pairing guy is a luxury. I don't think Hedman or McDonough are going anywhere so someone must be sacrificed. This trade helps Tampa a little by making them cap compliant but doesn't add a ton of room.

Anaheim: The Ducks need scoring. Hate giving up Kubalik but to get a defenseman like Lindholm, it has to happen.

Arizona: Coyotes were old defensively last year and have a lot of free agents. Zadorov is relatively young. Connelly is quite honestly a cap dump.

Philadelphia: Hasn't Gostisbehere fallen out of favor in Philly? That's my thought behind that.

New Jersey: Reuniting the Subban brothers.

Draft pick trades were just for fun. No specific player targeted. Hawks need to add draft picks.

All this probably means squat because nobody knows what's going to happen until after the expansion draft, but it's just a fun exercise to do on a Saturday in July.
