Description
I just realized you only get a cap hit of 576K when you buyout McDonagh, saving 6 Million, I know about the long term cap issues but we're trying to three-peat here (assuming we don't choke and lose in 7). I know Coleman could get more from anywhere else but I decided to give Coleman a discount to get a chance to win another ring (also his family likes Tampa and there's no income tax in Florida). I also decide to trade Alex killorn so that I can have Josh Archibald be the Barclay Goodrow replacement because someone's probably taking Barclay Goodrow, if Coleman decides to leave Tampa Goodrow is staying. with not alot of cap I put ABB at left wing because he played there for a short period of time and I want to keep the chemistry in the third line. For McDonagh replacement, I gave it to Alex Goligoski at a nice 1 year 2 million dollar contract. And for Goalie, I gave a 2 year backup deal to Chris Driedger & sign everyone else to be depth guys. And Johnson's going to Seattle.

I wouldn't say easily be traded, McDonagh became A Reliable but overpaid defensive defenseman that no one want, at best I could retain him for 1 million but I don't know if that could work

Curious because I haven’t seen too many people try the buyout McDonagh route. What’s the cap situation like 2 years out when Cirelli, Sergachev, and Cernak need new deals? Is 1 (or 2) likely to be traded? Thinking forward to when my Red Wings are out of the basement.

We have a lot of center depth so Anthony cirelli may be flipped, by that time Cap space will be like hopefully 86 million by 23-24. I don't think the Red Wings will be out of the basement but I do feel like y'all will win Shane Wright Lottery and the 2nd pick in 2023 getting you Matvei Michkov, plus Steve Yzerman will somehow give you a top six player out of the 6th round

Edit: I probably got fooled, the 3.5 million of cap will come in once Brayden Point contract end, not cirelli and sergachev
