In his last 27 games of the season, Kuznetsov got 25 points. That's a 76 point pace. I get why Detroit would love to pick him up for cheap.

What's in it for Washington?

Washington gets 0 value ... winger that we have a lot of a LHD prospect that would fall 4th-5th on the depth chart....2nd round pick might have the most value.

It's a good 2nd round pick. And I really thought the Caps should take a look at signing Namestnikov until they got a better deal on Sheary. But McIsaac is 4th-5th on Hershey's depth chart at LD this coming year, not Washington's. I know you know that, but I'm not sure OP knows.

Meanwhile, they've pencilled Zadina, Rasmussen, and Smith into bottom six roles, and Cholowski and Hronek in their bottom four on defense. There's more than enough undereutilized young talent to make a solid offer on a center who got photographed trying drugs after leading the NHL in playoff points, and to get Washington to add a player or two. But McIsaac has to wait in line behind Johansen for the popcorn in Hershey's press box.
