Sabres decline, there's no way to get 50% retained on eichel. It's just not happening.

retaining 5M for 5 years would never happen, but if it did it would cost way more than that

At that cap hit for 5 years Eichel would be the most valuable asset in the league imo (if hes healthy)

No NHL team is retaining 50% on that type of contract.

They would rather trade Eichel to Kings, Ducks, Blue Jackets, and many other teams while retaining 0% and getting a better return than what you have above.

From Kings point of view you can offer a deal like Turcotte, Madden, Kupari, 2021 1st Round Pick and it would still be valued more than the Vegas deal. 3 great prospect and a 8th overall pick. Those first rounders won't mean much considering Vegas is expected to be a top 10 team for at least another 3 years.
