Description
This is assuming Chicago is still looking for a defenseman badly enough to give up Seabrook to help our cap issues. You can't go breaking the bank for the big guns. That money is better spent bringing in players to help the bottom six.

Winnipeg won't trade Appleton for a player they don't need, they'll just let Seattle take him.

If WPG makes this trade before the expansion draft, they lose Dermott or Stanley AND Appleton. If they make this trade after the exp draft, they lose Stanley AND Appleton...

Either way they would lose Appleton, and they would also lose one of Dermott or Stanley.

I’m curious to learn why this would be a good idea for the Jets?

I would think losing one of Appleton or Stanley would make more sense, but maybe I’m missing something.

I don't know either. There are a lot of fans here that have convinced themselves that the Jets would prefer to lose two players in the expansion draft and replace them with nothing players and picks as opposed to just losing one player in the expansion draft and being done with it. As you said it makes no sense for Winnipeg, but people still post about it.
