Um, this is the overpayment of the century by a Devils fan.

You are aware Tarasenko is coming off of TWO shoulder surgeries, has requested a trade, and there are limited teams that can take on $7.5m?
Devil liked this.

Devils would not move any 1st round picks.

The trade would likely look like this:
1. Young player - maybe with some upside that is expansion-exempt (ie, Jesper Boqvist)
2. A pick in 2021 (ie, the Islanders 2nd round pick)
3. A conditional pick in 2023 (based on NJD success and Tarasenko's games played over next two seasons - ie, a 4th than can turn into a 3rd, 2nd, 1st)

Blues fans had suggested Andreas Johnsson plus 2nd.
I think that is probably right, but a little more from NJD if medicals check out.

AJ and a 2nd would be understandable as it moves some cap room from NJD now and AJ could still bounce back. His xGF was good, but he couldn't finish.

The thing I worry about is that if Tarasenko's shoulder is still bad, and he has surgery again to fix everything in say August (post-trade), his time on the team could be a matter of the last three months of 21-22, and then a "full" season in 22-23 to see where he is.

The Devils are not going to be a playoff team in my book, but I could live with the top 6 we had last year (Kuok-Hughes-Shar, Zacha-Hischier-Bratt), and then unveil Tarasenko all hopefully rebuilt as some nice punch down the road that we could potentially sell for much more than we got him for if he isn't a long term solution with Holtz and Mercer coming.

I doubt hall comes back since he's already been there. Sure tarsenko would be nice but i think reinhart would be a better fit for this team plus he doesn't have shoulder issues. If you're going to give away a lot like that might as well bring in someone younger as well
