Description
I think this is the most ideal trade from a Sabre perspective. Sets them up nicely with cap flexibility going forward into 2022 and beyond. 3 firsts next year helps continue the rebuild with Power and Quinn on the way. Smith could also be flipped at the deadline for a draft pick (ideally a late 1st since the Sabres could retain salary in that deal). The Center depth with Cozens, Mitts and Krebs would be very legit (Brisson is a great add there to).

IMO this is as good as it could get for the Sabres. Tuch is the only sticking point I think because Vegas would likely want to hold onto him. I guess to make salary work he could be swapped for McNabb.

Sabres should push hard for Tuch in an Eichel trade or load up on futures, maybe take Smith and McNabb to balance the cap and deal them as they're flippable assets.

I'd hold onto Eichel until the TDL to help boost his value. Everyone will hold his injuries against him and say his value is way less than it is unless he goes out and proves he can still play.

Obviously if there's a good offer Buffalo can and should take it.

looks like a reasonable ask imo.

The thing I wonder (and I have no idea the actual answer) is how bad the injury really is. The original recommendation by all the doctors was 10-12 weeks of rest and rehab and he would be fully healed. Eichel wants a surgery that's never been done before but I wonder if he really wants the surgery or is just using it as an excuse/ device to get out of Buffalo.

IMO I think the player wants out of Buffalo more then he is actually injured but we'll never know if that's the truth or not, but there certainly are some rumors floating around...

The quickest way for Jack to get out of buffalo would be to come back and play (and be healthy), prove he is in fact a top 10 center in the league and I don't think it would be very long before you see him on another roster.

The Sabres aren't helping there position though by not allowing other teams access to his medical records. It's a very strange situation overall.

Vegas would have to do some serious cap dancing to bring in Eichel. Even losing Tuch/Reilly at a combined $9.75M, they'll take on Eichel's $10M and have to add another player still. Pacioretty going back to Buffal would make more sense, but he has a 10 team no trade, and I'd bet big bucks that Buffalo would be on it.
