I really can't wrap my head around why people think this makes sense from a Washington standpoint. Drouin has already failed at center multiple times, so it's not like we'd be getting a replacement player for Kuznetsov. His point production looks fine at surface level, but only two goals in 44 games this season is a huge concern. I didn't watch Montreal a ton this year, but when I did Drouin wasn't all that noticeable. Kuznetsov is certainly a better player, and the only benefit for us is the lower cap hit, but just makes a massive problem we can't fix.

Where will the money next year to resign suzuki, Romanov and Evans (if eats up Phill's minutes and responsibilities) come from?

How bad defensively is he if they are giving him 77% OZ deployment?
He's not good in the circle either.
You might be able to argue that he creates better off the rush, but how's he going to get rushes if he can't be relied on to start in his own zone?

If I believed he would be a good fit to play with KK or Suzuki, perhaps. But I don't see it.

Trading for a 4x7.8M cokehead is just horrible.

All Great points which I did think about as well when I put this one together.

IMO I would still prefer to go after Dvorak and let the centres develop with a manageable cap
