Description
There has to be some bodies moving around on at least 7 teams that need to move players. UNLESS every team over the CAP finds a way to IR guys like Tampa did last year. I see Yzerman making moves to those teams who just cant afford players.

Chicago could pull it off putting Toews on the shelf until the playoffs.
Dallas will move a goalie to barely make it under the CAP
Montreal can survive putting Price and Weber likely on LTIR
Toronto is on the cusp but moving down a couple players will get them under the cap
Vegas slight adjustments can get them under the CAP
Pittsburgh close but has a full squad and has no one to sign that would put them over
Boston is the same where they are full, but have a couple guys likely going down to keep them under.

So the two outliers who will have to move guys are:

Edmonton: Holland is a moron. Looking at Edmonton, He has players he cant sign next year no matter what he does. Unless Duncan Keith is placed on LTIR, he has to move on from players because of the length and amounts he signed this offseason.

Tampa has to start moving dollars and players they wont resign just to play next year. Unless Kucherov takes another season off for the team.. But with Brayden Point getting upped in cash next year, they still will have to trim.

This is if the wings were to take advantage of both teams needs to clear out some space and Puljurvi refusing to play for the wings so he goes over to Karpat again. (so i just dumped him in LTIR for that)

Trades
1.
DET
  1. Cirelli, Anthony
Additional Details:
Palat wont waive for Detroit so Cirelli is the odd man out to have to be traded in order to get under the CAP. Palat wont be back next year anyhow because of Brayden Points raise. Looking at big dollars, contracts and available pieces to move, Cirelli is odd man out
TBL
  1. 2022 2nd round pick (WSH)
  2. 2022 3rd round pick (DET)
2.
DET
  1. Koskinen, Mikko
  2. Puljujärvi, Jesse
  3. Yamamoto, Kailer [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
Need the CAP space, cant sign Either Puljujarvi or Yamamoto now or in the future. The new Nurse contract is going to put them over the top next year where guys will have to be cleared out over and above this list. Yamamoto is the cost of taking on Koskinen contract and the unknown of what Puljujarvi will do when traded.

As an added Yzerman pull, if Puljujarvi refuses to report and goes over seas, Detroit gets Edmonton's 2nd round pick as well.
EDM
  1. DeKeyser, Danny
  2. Greiss, Thomas ($1,800,000 retained)
  3. 2022 4th round pick (COL)
Additional Details:
Dekeyser goes straight to LTIR and doesnt play this season. Greiss gives them a cheap goalie to save space and play more consistent than Koskinen.

If we are forced to trade someone it will be Colton not Cirelli

I was about to say the Pens will give poulin or lagare for Cirelli today.

That's quite bit of an over pay for half retained Greiss and taking Koskinen.
I would love to have cirelli on the team, not sure if that gets the job done. I think once they move Seabrook to LTIR they are compliant, but without Colton signed. They would probably move him if anyone, I would still be interested if I'm Yzerman.

That might be fair value wise. But Tampa is in full win now mode and has no interest in acquiring prospects for big pieces of their roster. Maybe next year if the Lightning experience another big cap crunch

Oilers are under cap this year with Klef LTIR and Stalock on Waivers and definitely do not need to give up two top 6 players to get rid of one year of Mikko...

This is a really fair look at how the oilers can be built for 22-23: https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/2708193 (Im not OP)
