Idea with Kreider and Trouba trades is to use rebuilding teams to eat cap and flip to teams they waive to or contenders and they recoup solid assets. I’m not arguing this, but in real life regardless of length of contract, Kreider at $2.5 mil and Trouba at $3.25 mil are definitely valuable (think of the Tampa trade last year for Savard). I tried my best to stagger the contracts for when big money comes off the books. Drury has his work cut out for him.

Overall idea looks good with me. I just hope however that the Rangers can find some new blood at some point, in wake of Ryan Strome’s departure. I like the lineup but I think it can be further enhanced with a middle sixer instead of Will Cuylle. (Or maybe Gauthier, but if he earns that contract then he deserves that lineup spot)

Thanks for the feedback. I honestly think we’d need one of our centers from the 3rd round this draft to turn into something special. If it happens, we’d be in a good spot otherwise it makes things more challenging. If Gauthier ends up getting moved I think elevating Blais to the 3rd line and bringing back Rooney makes sense. Might need another 4th line left winger though

How much salary cap did you have to spare in 2022-23? I still think Christian Dvorak could be a surprise acquisition.

Also worth mentioning that I believe the cap will rise to $82.5M in 22-23, but I could be wrong

I honestly forget. I think there could be room though in 22-23 for Dvorak. I think he and Chytil would be the perfect 2-3 centers. Leave Mika as 1C and Goodrow as 3C. That should give an extra mil to work with.

Interesting thorough AGM good stuff

I'd really caution against the Zibanejad contract as it effectively mimics the Neal/Lucic/Eriksson/Okposo/etc. contracts

Minor not but Kinkaid isn't an NHLer at that point almost certainly in the KHL career .905 goalie at 33ish someone like Raanta will be available etc.
