PREDICTIONS
- MTL will keep Kotkaniemi and assess his value. He has a year to prove his worth as a 2nd center. If he can get 45-55 points he will be kept by MTL. If not, he will simply be traded in the next offseason when his NMC expires. To me, the risk is worth it and I think he's ready for the next level.
- Kulak will be traded to allow cap compliance.
- Wideman will have a rough camp and start the season in the AHL.
- Josh Brook will have a good camp and start on the 3rd pairing.
- Jake Evans will prove himself as a legitimate 3rd center and play an important defensive role to fill the hole left by Philip Danault.
- Salary cap will go up next season, Weber will retire, Lehkonen and Byron will be moved out, which would allow to sign Suzuki to an elite contract - I predict a 7.5M$ for 8 years.

you do realize if he craps out and does not produce, considering he only got 20 points last season good chance he does not produce, not a chance in hell MTL will get anything close to a 1st and 3rd for him, and there is no chance he signs long term in MTL, he want out of MTL, MTl would be giving up a 1st and 3rd for one year of KK...pretty dumb.

Take the picks move on, MTL not making the playoffs and hope CAR misses too.

So Weber decides to just walk away from $30+ million and retire? What a nice guy.

When did he get a NMC? I don’t think he does, but I could be wrong.

If he retired today, he'd only be walking away from $12 mil. But yes, it's far more likely that he just stay on LTIR.

If the Canadiens decide to pay Kotkaniemi, they can't trade him since the NHL's collective bargaining agreement doesn't allow a team to trade a player for one year after matching an offer sheet.
