We have five NHL caliber Dmen on the left side with Sanderson making the jump at the end of the season. We don't have room for Joulevi and have no need for Ferland. You can have Bishop or Kelly for a pick.

Bishop, Clark
Kelly, Parker
2022 3rd round pick (VAN)
2022 7th round pick (SJS)
OTT
Juolevi, Olli
Ferland, Micheal

Ferland carries no value, just keep him on LTIR, he's going to retire after he gets all his money.

That's too much for Juolevi, he's a 23 year old with 23 NHL games, not great for a 5th overall pick. He struggled last season, Dobbers advanced stats graph lists him as a struggling depth defenceman. He would be Ottawa's 8th best defenceman, just ahead of Josh Brown.

@Canuck54

This proposal is confusing... Why is Ottawa giving up the assets when they are taking Ferland's contract?

First thing, do you know if his contract is insured? Apparently, not all contracts are. If it isn't, you're talking about $6,500,000 in dead money.

Where's the compensation for that???

Juolevi is a reclamation project much like Logan Brown is. There could be a possible swap of the two but Ottawa won't give up a prospect they like (Kelly) and 2 picks in a deep draft.
