Description
VGK - Ive seen mcnabb get traded a lot usually for a 3rd round pick- sometimes another mid-late pick as well. I figured these 2 guys should cover that. They can give vegas depth this year as well as being cheap options moving forward.

CGY - bailey is our points leader and a respected vet, seems like someone sutter might be interested in. Idk if the cap space can work but they are missing a top 9 winger and bailey can fill that role. Hes also a good playoff performer.
I am treating zadorov as a straight up cap dump. I could be wrong but that was my basis for this trade.
Trading bailey accomplishes 2 things.
1- it opens up a spot for golyshev who makes all the lines fit better
2- opens up cap space for a different acquisition potentially

Lines
27-13-26
Wahly will force his way onto line 1 by the TDL. Hes been a beast so far and him and barzy will be a hell of a combo.

18-29-21
This line has been really good ever since palms got moved onto this line. The points will come for beau as hes been playing well.

11-44-38
Parise and pageau have been really good together so far. Theyve dominated xG% especially when considering how often they start in the d-zone. Golyshev fits perfectly here as a hard worker, sound defensively, and can score. Hes been really good in bridgeport so far with a 4-1-5 line through 5 games. As an added bonus hes already 26 and has a lot of khl experience which should make trotz more comfortable playing him.

17-53-15
Theyve been pretty much as expected so far. An aging but still solid very physical line. I could see both panik and leo drawing in for these guys due to injuries which will most likely strike this line or bc he wants fresh bodies.

3-6
Lets reunite a top 3 d-pair in the league. And we certainly shouldnt be breaking them up to accomodate 44yo zdeno chara.

(3-mcnabb)-8
A more offensive dman and a more defensive one. I think dobson will figure things out. It might also help if he had an nhl caliber partner. Mcnabb is a cheaper guy both in assets and cap that i think will fit well with dobson.

43-24
Salo reminds me (and a lot of other people as well) of devon toews. Mayfield played well with toews and that makes sense given toews' style of play not just his talent. Therefore i think mayfield will play well with salo as well. Salo gets a veteran who is tough and very physical. That can give salo easier assignments defensively as well as let him push the pace offensively. Hes a solid 2-way defenseman who can be the guy we need. Good defensively so he can play barrys system (which was a big problem with leddy) while being able to contribute offensively.

30-40
Best goalie tandem in the league. Sorokin has been awesome so far and should be the lead guy by the end of the season (if he isnt already). Barry likes to split the regular season between his goalies and then go with 1 guy in the playoffs. I dont see that philosophy changing this season so i think you see a ~47-35 game split.

Not sure if Calgary does that, may value that cap space next year way more

Demers somewhat awkwardly playing LD would be better than mcnabb costing them both aho / bellows and taking up a chunk of vital cap space, like😐

Golly

They could send a 7th to VGK for ben Hutton etc.
