Description
Basically swapping out a couple of wingers that have struggled the past couple seasons and have the same cap hit. Rakell has scored at a top 6 rate in the past (as has DeBrusk). Bs get a winger that can hopefully find his groove. Ducks get same and one that’s younger, a RFA, and could maybe grow with a younger team.
Could also maybe swap out Silverberg, although the $ gets trickier as he has more years left

Rakell is better than Debrusk. Boston would need to add.

Do you even watch hockey outside of Boston?

I agree, the post is more of an idea of the kind of player that the Bruins want back. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Ducks move Rakell at the deadline for a tidy package

I'm curious about something and I'm hoping you two could aide me on it:

Should the Ducks look to emulate what St. Louis did a couple seasons ago - be in that wildcard race but opt to purge expiring assets for futures in hopes of fuelling a cup run down the road - is there a deal that could build on a basic DeBrusk-for-Rakell swap? I seem to recall the Bruins were in need of a decent LHD, which Lindholm fits the bill.

Does something along the lines of the following trade fit for the Ducks? Do Bruins fans even have an appetite for it?

Boston Bruins
Hampus Lindholm (50% retained)
Rickard Rakell

in exchange for

Anaheim Ducks
2022 BOS 1st Round Pick
2023 BOS 3rd Round Pick
Jake Debrusk
Urho Vaakanainen

I think Lindholm re-signs. Rakell is iffy and I think Manson walks. So I don’t see a Lindholm trade happening. I’d only move Rakell for a big haul.

I’m of the thought that competing deep into the season and possibly a playoff series would be very beneficial for the young players. The game is different late in the season and playoffs and they’ll have to learn that eventually.

There’s also a business side so if the ducks are able to keep this play up and have a shot at the playoffs I think the Samueli’s will want those 2 extra home games being that the ducks struggle to make money as it is.

Some will think that no matter what happens the ducks should sell at the deadline and continue adding to the rebuild but they’ve got a solid young core coming or in the NHL already. Zegras is a top liner. Terry looks like at worst he’s a high end 2nd liner. Milano is growing into a top 6 W. Comtois has struggled some this year but last year showed he’s a 2nd line scorer. Lundestrom is a 3C. Drysdale is a top 4 D. Benoit is 3rd pair D with still some growth to be had. And then you have Perrault coming to boost the top 6. Tracey is finally developing and could be an NHLer. Zelwelger and Pastujov look to be top held roster players. And then McTavish hopefully develops into a top 6 player. And there’s a handful of college guys that have shown promise.

Basically I’m saying I don’t think they need to sell just because they’re supposed to be rebuilding.
