Detroit - need a 1B/2C. Neither Horvat or Larkin are top end 1Cs but having both is pretty solid centre depth. Especially with their talent on the wing. Can draft a replacement for Hronek while Myers is a stop gap. I've discussed this with Detroit fans and would be willing to only take one second back.

NJ - could use a sniping winger to complement their centre depth. Again, this seems to be a deal that NJ fans are somewhat ok with, depending on the conditions of the first.

Ninja edit to the OP: I think Myers should have 2 mil retained.

Detroit - OK, but they have Hronek, why do they want a worse d man and create a need for themselves to draft another one? I get Horvat. Not sure if Stevie Y is going to do a Benning and jump the rebuild too quickly.

Maybe with NJ. I just feel that Severson plays a big role on their blue line and is part of their plans going forward, as opposed to Subban, but.. don't think we want Subban.

Generally speaking I just feel that the blue line we have in Van is fundamentally broken and is going to take pain and patience to fix. I'm not sure there's any way to get there without at least a partial rebuild

respect that you talked to other teams fans though about the moves

I think a Severson for Boeser swap makes some sense. But here is the challenge:

it would likely happen after 2021-22 season, once the window to extend Severson opens.
At that point, Boeser likely has his extension in place.

So if it were an unsigned Severson (1 year rental) for recently extended Boeser...Devils would have to add.
If they both extend (or are open to reasonable extensions with new clubs), then it may be a match.

I agree the trade only works if both are willing to extend.

Maybe it would work to do the trade at the draft.

There would be less guess work about where NJ's pick ends up, Boeser could sign right away, and the Canucks could have an unofficial extension in place with Severson that goes official July 1 ( I think Chi did something similar with Jones)
