Description
I really don't see how the Leafs can improve in multiple positions unless they trade a bigger cap such as Nylander. I particularly don't really like the lineup, because the team is depending on so many unproven NHLers to be NHL good next season . Some of the bottom enders might be replaced by other players, but you get the idea, it's still 750,000 players thrust into the NHL.

If Muzzin doesn't rebound I'm starting to think he might be the one heading out the door.

His contract is structured to be moved in either years 3 or 4 (if need be).

If they acquire a decent RD with term in the next few months (and move on from Holl), I'm pretty certain they'll consider moving Muzzin.

Rielly - Brodie
Sandin - ________
Dermott - Liljegren

The Leafs aren't moving Nylander. He's their only bargain contract among the big 4, and he's an elite transition player (something Keefe/Dubas value higher than most). Also obviously continues to improve, he's not going anywhere, anytime soon.

Leafs were able to pick up 3 solid contributors this summer for under $4m. Think they'll stick to that plan to continue to find depth players, rather than losing a Nylander trade.

I kinda think it fantasy that 5.6m Muzzin can be moved. His M NTC probably excludes any poor team....that would have cap. Other teams just can't afford him, especially if playing to his 5.6m. Trouble with moving Holl...he's a 2m player, how do you move him and replace him with equal or better player at a lesser cap. I feel that is just wishful thinking.

Muzzin can only submit a list of 10 no trade list. Leaves plenty of options. They wouldn't have trouble trading him. Grizzled physical vet that can move the puck and play solid PK minutes. That holds a high value around the league. Look at his former team, you don't think they'd take him back right now?? He would be moved this summer, when he only has 2 years left in his deal. Rich team, poor team, doesn't matter as much in COVID times, a guy making $1.5+ less than his cap is appealing to every owner these days.

Ben Chiarot will likely get moved for a 1st at the deadline, then get a stupid contract with term this summer, and on his best day he's a poorer player than Muzzin on his worst day.

Don't need to replace Holl with a lesser cap, if the plan is to move on from Muzzin.

Could even move Holl and acquire a decent rental on a 50% retained contract, then re-sign them in the summer.

Sandin isn't playing 3LD forever, and they don't seem to want to play him on his off-side.

Rielly isn't going anywhere. That leaves one other option.

Wow this is shocking.
Why not resign Campbell? If it means trading Mzraek, so be it.

I think your being unrealistic with all these internal promotions, there could 1, 2 maybe 3.
But that's it
