Think if the Oilers do deal their first in that trade, they'd want Fleury's cap hit retained, not deHaan's, thus leaving them with a bit more cap space to deal with for other trades.. The Seattle deal, although looks alright on paper, is kind of useless for Edmonton, they need a legit top 6 winger who would be an upgrade over Yamamoto, and/or a 3rd line C(even though I think McLeod deserves the ice time and chance to play as that need).. The other "need" if you will for Edmonton would be a bottom pairing left shot D man, somebody better than Koekkoek/Russell/Lagesson(even tho I think Lagesson is the best option of the 3 he doesn't get a legit shot for whatever reason).. I agree with the Fleury assessment too, maybe he can sign a 1/2 year deal with Edmonton, Smith likely gets injured, and it gives them a viable option and incredible mentor for a young Skinner to look up too, if that happens, the Oilers currently have just over $5.3mish in space, if the cap goes up by $1m that makes it just over $6m, plus Klefbom doesn't look like he will be returning adds another $4.167, basically leaving them with $10.4m to bring Fleur back and round out the bottom 6 forward group again...
