Alert to all Leafs fans:

Any Chychrun trade will more than likely start with Rasmus Sandin as the main piece. There's no way around that. If you want something good, you have to offer something good in return.

If Toronto is to meet Arizona's reported price, it'll likely look more like

Toronto Maple Leafs
Jakob Chychrun
Arizona 2022 3rd round pick

Arizona Coyotes
Rasmus Sandin
Matthew Knies
Toronto 2022 1st round pick
Toronto 2023 2nd round pick (conditional to a 1st if Toronto wins the cup)

Which if I'm Toronto, I'm not touching that deal.

The Eichel deal was thrown around as a recent comparison but I think the best comparable deal will be what Edmonton got for Chris Pronger in 06' and this would be the closest comparable that Toronto could offer. It's a massive move if they think it puts them over the top but if not it's a huge haul to give up. Mind you I think Chychrun is one of the guys that'd be worth considering it for

Yeah, between term and upside, not many recent comparables.

He seems pretty well perfect for what LA needs, and they can outbid pretty well any other team, so he's going to cost a lot.

I'm not sure LA is going to be the team - he fits a need for them but idk if they have the pieces. The top prospect in the deal would undoubtedly be Turcotte who I think has been dropping in value (they're not moving Byfield). And I'm not sure what "young roster player" they'd be willing to give up that has much value.

I think a team to keep an eye on is Florida. They're clearly going for it and they have a lot of pieces they'd likely be willing to move to get the deal done (not to mention that Chychrun was born in Florida). It's a clear need for the Panthers and they have the high end prospects like Heponiemi, Denisenko, Samoskevich, Gildon, etc. along with a guy like maybe Tippett and all of a sudden there's a fit there
