Description
OTT uses their 2022 1st to draft RW Joakim Kemell. If OTT decides to leave him in Liiga for another season we can just switch Giroux to RW and move Formenton up to the 2nd line.
I've noted the moves that happen at the March 2022 trade deadline.
(Guessing we'd also get a 7th round picks for the likes of Ennis, Gambrell and Forsberg but didn't list them because people would all be screaming NOT MY TEAM hahaha).
Giroux and Holden are signed to deals in the off-season.
Belleville is stacked with the likes of Greig, Boucher, Kleven, Ostapchuk, Melanson Lodin, and Latimer joining the team. And with three picks in the 2nd AND three picks in the 3rd round of 2022 the prospects keep coming!
I've waived Zaitsev and moved him to Belleville. Buying him out only saves Ottawa $1.7M. Maybe the added roster spot is worth it but I don't think so. We might be able to trade him but AGAIN the thought process was too many fans would scream that their team would never take him even with salary retained, so I didn't put it in here. Also, he'd be fine as a 3rd pairing guy if we need him. If we lose him on waivers... so be it.

The retained salary costs Ottawa exactly the amount that buying him out would cost, and Colin White at $3M per season makes him far less of a gamble and an appealing additional to SEA.

Not sure Tierney will return more than a 3rd. Sanford maybe a 4th and Mete like a 6th. I think we should keep White for at least another year

Tierney (50% retained) + HOLDEN... that's two LEGIT guys to help a team in the playoffs and totally worth a late 2nd round pick on a team that's stacked.

Keeping White is very dangerous. One more bad season, be it his stats or more injuries, and his value plummets. Right now, at $3M per season, I could see a few GMs making offers.

Depends on what other LD's we are trying to obtain.

Rangers would take 3rd for Tierney at 50% easily.

    - Forget Formenton for that price, he will be quite more expensive

    - Why would the Sens move Colin White if his AAV is now 3.0??? He'd bring excellent value at that price, he's a good bottom-6 forward, good defensively, good possession stats. You keep Chabot's best friend so your best player is happy

    - Also that 4th line is terrible defensively, which is the last thing you want from a 4th line. Top-9 looks fantastic though, and the D-squad optimal as well.

You're right, at 4.75 he doesn't have much value so that's why you keep him or buy him out, unless you targeted another overpaid player that you think would bring more to your team, sort of like a scenery change for both players

Retaining 1.75 x 3 years for Geekie and Melanson (minus Kelly + 3rd) is not very productive.

A Sens armchair GM with realistic moves that are explicitly explained, all make sense for both parties involved, and all make complete sense for the future of this team???? I can't believe my eyes. Congratulations on being well informed and not delusional like almost every single other person who makes these.

Only thing missing is a roster of that Calder Cup winning Belleville Senators roster in the taxi squad section.
