The Rangers won't trade Kakko, Laf, Lundkvist or Schneider for 1.5 years of Miller

From a Canucks fan’s perspective it kinda looks like you have a choice to make between Lundkvist and Schneider in this situation. Fox is 1RD and you’re likely stuck with Trouba at 2RD as a negative asset considering his contract length, that leaves the bottom pairing spot for the two youngsters. They gave Lundkvist the first half of the season and now Schneider is playing well in that role. Generally what I’ve heard is Schneider is more untouchable so I could see Lundkvist being part of the package for Miller given that is the Canucks biggest need.

I also disagree with the argument that it’s only 1.5 years of Miller which should mean some significant drop in value. If the Rangers want to win the cup in the next two seasons, paying Miller $2.625M while he should arguably be making $8M on his extension for TWO playoff runs is an invaluable asset in my opinion. That’s why I continue to argue that it will be Lundkvist + more coming back but we will see I guess.

Trouba has a ton of value to the Rangers. He is their most physical D by far and stands up for himself and his teammates whenever needed. He is a solid defender and he is pitching in offensively. The only reason he is a 2RD is because of a kid named Fox. In reality he is a 1RD. People that don't watch the Rangers may look at his contract and think its a problem, but it isn't. He is worth what he is paid and he is only 27. People said that about Kredier as well....contract is too much for too long, yeah sure, he is way overpaid at $6.5/year, right? He's 30 years old and just getting better, lighting the league up this year.

Schneider is very similar to Trouba in play style and leadership qualities, and he is going to learn from Trouba for 2 to 3 years, and when Trouba's NMC expires, then he may get moved. That's what makes sense for the Rangers, so Schneider isn't going anywhere, no matter how many times Canuck fans post trades or try to justify them by saying how great JT is. They just don't get that it's not about JT, its about Schneider's fit in the Rangers plan.

Fair enough on the first point, from an outside perspective it certainly appears he is overpaid but I'll take your word for it. My argument was the same as yours that Schneider is more untouchable than Lundkvist and if you have 3 RHD you are building around then how, as the OP said, is Lundkvist suddenly untouchable if he doesn't even have a spot in the lineup in the foreseeable future?
