Description
I would like to have this team - less talent, less ego... but more heart and drive. We are still gonna suck big time - but we will compete each game.

SEATTLE trade : Not the actually package - but what would it take to get Gourde home?

I could see a scenario where the sabres take Petry but not if Tuch is involved. He's one of the few guys who loves being a sabre there's no way they're getting rid of him.

So the Habs get the better player and the higher pick? Why do the Sabres even consider?

I'm pretty sure Tuch is a guy who loves hockey first and his ego takes a back seat - so he'll bleed for any team that takes him. I know it would hurt to trade Tuch like it hurt us to trade Petry... but the poor guys' family moved out of Canada...

Petry is good value once he will be in a ''good place''. He would be a great RHD to mentor your young LHD like Dahlin and Power.

You are in bad faith if a 4 times in a row 40+ pts RHD with term is not a great player with tons of value.

He had two 40pts seasons in shorten seasons as well.

Petry is a Top 3 D on any team and the fact that he is having an terrible season on a terrible team with no goaltenders, bottom six guys on his pair and absolutely NO system... doesn't reduce his value. PLUS : if wife and kid left MTL for Michigan because of the Covid restriction - its hard on a man behing far from his family.

Chychrun is having a terrible year too? Is he worth nothing? I though so.

BTW - its litterally 4 place in the draft, chill

Few things I see - Tuch is 9 years younger than Petry, has a lower AAV, and perhaps most crucially for a team that comes off as having less $ to spend - Petry's salary is actually higher than his cap hit in the middle of his deal (2 seasons of $7.5M actual salary vs. $6.25M hit). You also have to consider that Buffalo trading Tuch would be a big PR blow - they made a big deal about acquiring him in the Eichel trade as a local boy, and players will definitely notice if they turn around and trade him only a few months later.

If having veteran D to help mentor their younger guys is that important to the Sabres, there's plenty of UFA guys this summer that they can make that pitch to - Marc Staal, Anton Stralman, Keith Yandle, Alex Goligoski, and Mark Giordano are just the tip of the iceberg of veteran UFA defensemen available this summer.
