If lafreniere and kakko are signing those deals, its because they haven’t been good, yet there they are in the top six.

This is 3 years down the line, who knows what happens really. Kakko's contract is up this year and so far he hasnt done anything to garner a significant raise, so I give him a 2yr prove it deal and see what happens no different than what LA gave to Kempe. LAF is a bit of a wild card, hes showing better play in a short sample size playing with the top line although on his off side. If he starts to break out, then were looking at a 4-5m bridge contract. Which unfortunately means Barron and Jones might have to be the odd men out.

Seems like you gave Kakko a three year deal here.

Anyhow, so what you’re saying is this would involve giving out the bridge deals based on the poor performance they’ve shown, and then once they’ve signed for three years on the cheap a switch flips and they break out.

Seems a tad optimistic to me, but wouldn’t that be nice!

I mean, arent contracts given out based upon performance? I give him that deal and throw a bunch of performance based bonuses in there. Youre not gonna hand out a contract extension "Well, you werent great, but youre the 2nd overall pick so that entitles you to a 3m bridge deal."

..and yes it should say 1yr not 2.

No i agree. I think the contracts are very fair, but i think putting them in the top six is a red flag. I don’t think this team does well because unless kreider is planning on going all super human again, that top six is weak.
