That is probably what we would offer but other teams would beat it by offering a better young player and prospect and perhaps lower 1st draft pick. We might have to put a 2nd in as well.

"Philly claims to want a first, prospect, and young player for giroux". So? Why should the Leafs be in on him? But really bad roster construction, trading two NHL Dmen and only getting one in return.
Even at that, is this really cap compliant?

Assuming Muzzin stays out until playoffs it is definitely compliant.

But I agree, not a fan of the roster this way-- I just don't think that highly of Severson. And I would still keep JT at centre, or at worst, taking the faceoffs- he's been great in the circle this season.
