Description
Really liking what Florida has built, but looking at their long-term they are about to go into cap hell. They need to sign Huberdeau after next season so he will see a big increase. The obvious cap casualty is Bob. Now I know he's signed for 4 more years but in looking at the Hawks long-term, the only tightness against the cap would be next year. I don't think it would be a bad acquisition as he would most likely keep the team competitive in games and it would allow Soderblom and Commesso time to develop. The only question is what else would Florida give. I look at this as almost the same as the Bickell trade to Carolina where the Hawks had to give up Teuvo to shed the contract. Would Florida be willing to give up Lundell (or another top prospect)? Please post your thoughts. Thanks. FYI, the roster below is just to get 22 players on the roster to see where the cap is at and is not one that I am endorsing. More moves need to be made.

I doubt Bob waives. Bob can't even be sent down to the AHL like TBL did with Tyler Johnson.

florida could give pieces like first rounder to get rid of bob, but they will definitly not give someone like lundell who is already a top player in his rookie season.

That sucks for Florida because I doubt he'd waive his no trade for Arizona or Seattle either then. I'm sure he'd want to go to a winner but there's not many contending teams that could take on his contract.

Hawks felt the same way about Teuvo but were backed into the corner like Florida will be. I don't think a low first will be much enticement for the Hawks to take on a big contract with that much term left.

Instead of Bob, Hawks would be better to sign a UFA goalie and in two years when Toews and Kane are UFAs, the Hawks sign Huberdeau.
Hawks utilize their cap space better than trading Bob....who doesn't waive anyways.
